NHS Dentistry at Somers Square Practice

Somers Square Dental is a mixed practice providing both NHS and Private treatments. Our practice has an all-inclusive stance towards dentistry meaning we accept patients of all backgrounds, regardless of their needs, requirements or preferences.

Somers Square Dental offers the following NHS treatments:

  • Examinations (Including X-rays and scales)
  • Fillings
  • Extractions
  • Root Canal Treatments
  • Crowns
  • Bridges
  • Dentures

Unfortunately we are not currently accepting new NHS patients, including the following:

  • Fee paying adults
  • Exempt adults
  • Children

The charge you pay for NHS treatment depends on the treatment that you clinically require to keep your mouth healthy. All charges apply to an overall course of treatment, and not the individual items within it. You will therefore only have to pay one charge for each course of treatment – even if you need to visit your dentist on multiple occasions to complete it. If you require any additional treatment within the same charge band (for example, an additional filling) within two months of completing a course of treatment, you do not have to pay anything extra.

Patients may be able to receive NHS dental treatment for free or at a reduced cost if they are in receipt of a qualifying exemption. Patients under the age of 18 are exempt from NHS treatment charges. Patient aged 18 and who are in full time education can also obtain free NHS dental treatment.

Please see the NHS website for more information and for a full list of qualifying exemptions.

Sarah

Sarah
GDC 290247

I grew up in West Yorkshire and moved to study at the University of Birmingham, where I graduated in 2020.

After completing my foundation training in a busy mixed practice in Derbyshire, I made the move back to Birmingham.

I enjoy all aspects of general dentistry and treating patients of all ages. Having suffered with dental anxiety myself, I feel I can empathise and understand concerns patients may have when attending the dentist. I have a particular passion for treating nervous patients, providing a calm and relaxed atmosphere with a friendly manner to try and overcome any fears they have.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends and enjoy running to raise money for charities that are close to my heart.

I graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2020 with a Prize in Clinical Excellence and a nomination for the Charles Green Prize in Oral Surgery.

I completed my foundation training at Redhouse Dental Practice in Redditch where I found a passion for all aspects of dentistry, but particularly oral surgery, restorative and aesthetic dentistry.

I have an ambition for ongoing postgraduate learning, having attended a number of courses in the past year.

I am friendly and approachable and I enjoy meeting new people. Helping anxious patients overcome their fear of dentists is an important part of my practice.

In my spare time I enjoy climbing, seeing my friends and walking my dog.

I graduated with honours in 2009 from Kings college London.

After qualifying I honed my general practice skills working in London, and subsequently moved to this practice seven years ago.

I enjoy all aspects of dentistry and take great pride in providing the best possible care for my patients. I particularly enjoy taking nervous patients throughout their journeys with my empathetic approach. I strive to keep patients involved in all aspects of treatment planning so they are fully aware and we work in collaboration to provide the best outcome.

I also have a passion for teaching and teach undergraduate students on clinical practice and phantom head sessions at Birmingham dental hospital.
